Tint to contrast...looks cool!

Take a look at hoop location....position high or low.  Need to watch pedal position relative to the stand off position.

Hard to see from this picture but this fender has 2-dark blue vertical pvc inlays and 1-dark blue horizontal and 1-walnut horizontal inlay alternated with maple.

Mud flaps have a follow through pattern to blend with the fenders to give you that extra protection from all of that road contamination.  Nasty!  Now you only have to worry about the riders in front of you.

Supper clean looking ride which will keep you clean as well.

What to do when your son wants a set....make him build his own? Are you kidding....he doesn't want anything to do with it. Intimidated you think?

These are maple fender base with blue pvc inlays on the top and the side also walnut inlays that can only be seen from the side.

Inlaid the flaps with the same blue colored blue pvc to carry through the entire length of the fender.

Finish can be tinted most colors although I'm not really into trying to match bike frame colors.  Way too many variations and options available. Maybe an accent color instead?  No worries....wood can be seen through the tinted glossy finish.  Length is whatever you want......nothing standard here!

What's turns you on......Matte or Glossy?

Matte fender wet sanded and Glossy fender wet sanded and buffed back to gloss.

Both Matte and Gloss are translucent enough to view the grain below.

Here are some cool finish options. How about a translucent black finish....after all you still want them to know they are wood!

See this pugs with fenders at Geoffs Bike and Ski in Iowa City,  Iowa!

Glossy enough to see your reflection.....don't you look good!
Just a note to the installer...make sure that 2 stand-offs are used on the front and rear struts.  Not a single like in the picture above.

Look at the clean and stylish hardware....solid as a rock!

Remember 2 stand-offs on the front and rear struts.

Wrap these fenders as much or as little as you want......wrap is your choice.

Looks black from a distance but get close and the wood magically appears.    Mount the front and rear  fenders with 2 stand-offs on the struts for that rock solid mount.  Don't want that install to be floppy!

Is this what you've been waiting for....Mounted and being put to use. Keeping you dry and in everyone's eye!!

See these Maple/Walnut fenders at World of Bikes in Iowa City,  Iowa!

Notice the double stand-offs on the rear of the fender which gives the fender great stability.

Wow......the blue frame makes the fenders really pop!

And look at all of that beautiful wood to look at!!  Can't tell me you can find metal or plastic that will look that cool! They are way more solid anyway!

Wrap as little or as much as you want.

This set of hickory fenders ended up in Red Deer,  Alberta Canada

Mark - Got the fenders installed this weekend (took me about 4 hours). I was able to keep the front derailleur with a small bit of grinding for clearance. They are absolutely drop dead beautiful and the workmanship is first class. I get plenty of comments along with disbelief that are made from wood. Even my wife concedes they are classy. I've attached a couple of pics of the installation - hope you can make use of then. I will be passing your cards around at some of the local bike shops when I show off the Pugsley.

Thanks again for the great product - I'm very, very pleased.

END OF THE PROTO ERA!!!!

Here is a table of prototypes 108 mm ......I think that phase is
over.....bye bye proto.  I think we have that mastered!

Take a close look......do you see it?  I know it is impossible
from this pic but this is a solid red oak fender with a translucent
black finish. You really need to see this in the sunlight....
amazing!!!!  The coolest part.....this finish can be tinted any color!

Southern Yellow Pine fenders!
Didn't think they would look this good!

I love the contrast!

Color is added!

I call this my DNA pattern.

These are just too cool for words...

Pugsley Full Coverage Wooden Fenders

THESE ARE THE PROTOTPYES.  The process has been perfected and are ready for your orders.  Call for color and wood choices.  We also have brass hardware available.  The production fenders will have a longer (more coverage) front.  We installed them yesterday and immediately started to hit the snow piles in my brother yard...I need to remember to pull that front wheel up when hitting a snow bank as I pulled a header with the only full wooden fender on a Surly Pugsley in the world!  Oops.  Solid installation...no rattles.  Notice that there is little or no clearance for a front derailleur which could be an issue with people.  I have noticed that the Salsa Mukluk has a little more clearance.

Voted "Most beautiful" Wooden fender installation...

JIM WINS!
Jim wins again but his physical prowis wasn't what won him "Most beautiful" fender installation.  His choice of a Masi Speciale CX  from  30th Century Bicycle and wood choice did.  Many people have commented on the color combinations that Jim chose for his touring bike and fender choice.  All that's needed is his Old Man Mountain rack and he's ready for his spring Tenn. tour.  Please send some scenic pics next week and I'll get them posted.  Thanks for the purchase!

Wide Wooden Fenders...not a problem...

Sorry it's been so long since the last update. Many process improvements have been on going in order to make a wider range of widths look perfect. This is literally hot off the press...drool away.   30mm on up...

This is the prototype set that will be installed on our Surly Pugsley and tested out in the spring muck...bring it on!
